Organization

The European Association for Public Administration Accreditation (EAPAA) was founded in 1999 to develop and maintain a system for the voluntary accreditation of academic public administration programmes in Europe. The international recognition by peers is an important assurance for the quality of a degree programme.

EAPAA is an association whose members are institutions that offer academic degree programmes in public administration, public management, public policy, and the like.

EAPAA is an autonomous organisation, but collaborates closely with other organisations in the field of Public Administration, like EGPA, NISPAcee, IIAS, IASIA and NASPAA (see the Links for an explanation of these acronyms and links to their websites).

The statutes of the association can be found under the Downloads. More information on the membership of EAPAA can be found under Membership.

EAPAA has the following institutional bodies:

  • the General Meeting (GM): the assembly of all A-members, B-members and Participants. The General Meeting decides on all issues concerning the association, with the exception of all issues related to accreditation. Click here for the minutes of the General Meetings;
  • the Executive Committee (EC): the board of the EAPAA. The Executive Committee prepares the General Meetings and sees to the work of the EAPAA-secretariat. The composition of the present committee can be found below;
  • the Accreditation Committee (AC): the committee that decides on the accreditation criteria and procedure, and judges on the applications for accreditation of individual programmes. Click here for more information on the Accreditation Committee.

The Executive Committee of EAPAA consists of:

  • Prof.dr. Christoph Reichard, University of Potsdam, Germany, chair;
  • Dr. Theo van der Krogt, University of Twente, the Netherlands, secretary-general/treasurer ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it );
  • Prof.dr. Geert Bouckaert, University of Leuven, Belgium, vice-chair (and representing EGPA);
